ELF Baked Highlighter - Moonlight Pearls | review

Assalammualaikum and Hello everyone !

ELF is a cosmetic brand that quite popular on US and Europe country as it is a brand that selling makeup with a budget price (on their country) but when it comes to Malaysia it become affordable not really on the budget price. The main reason I really want to try this highlight is because I saw one video from Kathleen Light and she mention about this highlight as her favorite highlight and that moment I get the feeling that I want to give this highlight a try as well. ELF Products quite difficult to find in Malaysia so I have to browse for a authentic re-seller and I found one and I buy from her for RM35 each if I’m not mistaken. I really couldn’t recall as I bought it early last year. Heee..

This is how ELF baked highlighter looks like. This baked highlight comes in 3 different shades (Pink Diamond, Blush Gems and Moonlight Pearls) and I choose Moonlight pearls as It is a warm champagne colour and this color that Kathleen Light mention in her video. As it is a baked highlight where it can be applied dry or wet. Dry for sheer effect of highlight and wet for vibrant effect.

.
ELF claim that this highlight helps to create a radiant glow with the illuminating powder. It claim to be a long lasting color that even when it is worn out it will left a vibrant effect. This product also does not testing on animal which is cruelty free which is good. I love product when they claim to be not tested on animal.

ELF Baked Highlighter infused with Vitamin E, Jojoba, Sunflower, Apricot and Grape seed oils for nourish and hydrate the skin. This is good to know as we really need a good ingredient in the highlight as it will be applying to our skin. This highlight infused with Vitamin E, Jojoba, Sunflower, Almond and Grape.

Here the swatches for ELF Baked Highlighter in Moonlight Pearls.
This can be applying in 2 ways either wet or dry. When you apply it wet it will give more vibrant effect whereas when you apply it dry it will show a sheer pigmentation.

Using a powder brush, sweep the baked highlighter onto cheekbones, brow bones, cupid's bow and bridge of your nose for an instant glow. Apply wet for a vibrant effect or dry for sheer pigmentation.

My first impression about this highlight is not that good as I couldn’t really get the right amount of highlight as the pigmentation quite so-so. And that time I use brush to apply it. But when I swatch it using my finger the pigmentation is quite good. From there I know that brush couldn’t pick the product well. I try using a few different brushes as well but it turns out the same. I find that quite disappointed as the formulation not as buttery as I though it wold be. It is surprisingly quite dry and solid. SObssss…

But I don’t give up that early as I believe with Kathleen Light on this and I give this product a try again. I try use a bit force with brush to get the product out and time to time after giving this product a try I find it getting better. My expectation on this highlight is quite high and when I try it does not really impress me on the first trial kinda disappointed but after keep on playing around with it and I try a few different techniques than I find this product actually not bad. The color is pretty for highlight but the texture not that buttery enough to be admire. Although it claim that the product were infused with different types of oils but the product seem more to dry side. I can get other product with cheaper price and stay buttery as highlight. I wish they can improve on the texture as usually baked highlighter is best because of the texture. But the color still pretty! I hope you find my review helpful :)

Till then, xoxo

Thank you for reading this ^_^
